My 3Screens Blog Scoops All National Media to Report on the First Starbucks in the U.S. with AT&T WiFi

Picture_10 In my other life, I have a blog called 3Screens.net.

It's a consumer facing blog about what it's like to be an AT&T three screens customer.

In producing this blog, it makes me be my own client, having to stay on message, think about communications strategy, with an end game of  building authority and brand.

By three screens, it refers to the TV, the PC and my wireless device (and iPhone) -- all of which I have service from AT&T.

While my focus has been on IPTV, I am starting to write and cover stories about wireless.  I happened to be driving in between my home and my office, stopped at the Starbucks in my neighborhood, got a cup of Java and saw the AT&T crew there.

I knew that AT&T and Starbucks had announced the switch from T-Mobile to AT&T, so putting 1 + 1 together, I ran to my office, got my computer, logged on, got on the AT&T (and not the T-Mobile network), blogged, sent some pitches out via email, and.....it just struck a chord.

I am going to start melding AT&T / Starbucks / Apple into my editorial mix.  Oh- yes, still do IPTV.  Once whole home DVR is real its yet another ball game.  And once I get U-verse Voice, then I have an all IP home.  There is plenty to do and more fun to come.

Breaking coverage included sites such as:

    Engadget

    Gizmodo

    Gizmonews

    Houston Chronicle (thanks, Dwight;)

    InformationWeek

    MacWorld (Glen Fleishman's syndicated story)

PC World (Glen Fleishman's syndicated story)

RV Internet (a news site for people who live in RVs, or are always on the road and need Internet access)

San Antonio Express News  (where AT&T is headquartered)

Seattle Post Intelligencer (where Starbucks is headquartered)

    TMCNet

Washington Post (Glen Fleishman's syndicated story)

The Conversation About Dell's Latitude XT Tablet - Featuring Client, N-trig's Technology, Continues...

Over at Gizmdo, there's a post citing the Direct2Dell post in regards to the chatter that's been coming up about the pricing for the Latitude XT Tablet that uses client, N-trig's DuoSense Capacitive Touch technology.  Also, here is a comparison of the features of the Dell tablet vs. HP's and Lenovo's

And Now, I Decided to Go With An iPhone - But Still Kept The BlackBerry - At Least For Now

I decided to move forward with an iPhone.  But I am still keeping my BlackBerry - for now. Picture_4

I still have my BlackBerry, and will give this whole experiment one month to decide what I am going to do.   The only thing I am hesitant about going with the iPhone is that I have to shut it off when I go overseas as so to avoid huge roaming bills.  One good thing about the BlackBerry is that AT&T offers and international roaming plan that costs $20 extra each month and you can receive and send all the email you can eat.

Remembering when I switched to the Mac, no matter how great I thought it would be (and I am glad I switched) it did take some time getting used to.

As they say in TVLand, "stay tuned."

Should Companies Posing Applications on YouTube Be More Self Policing in Disclosing Who Actually Produced Videos Like These?

I have another blog, 3Screens.net, focused on helping what I hope to be millions of AT&T customers who will be part of AT&T's three-screen initiative.

Recently AT&T announced a new service, Video Share, which I think is pretty cool.

This post is not about Video Share.  It's about AT&T's approach to using YouTube and posing what looks like to be end-user created YouTube videos, which they are not.

These videos are too canned, too formatted and too slick.  And what's even worse, is that they are done with poor acting and role playing.

If a company is going to post videos like these, then I think they should be more self-policing in disclosing that these are AT&T produced videos and not done by citizens having fun and doing their own demos of what really is a great application.

    Your thoughts?

How This Blog Impacts Our Client's Coverage - And Extends the Conversation

When I blog, I am creating fresh content.

Search engines and spiders look for what's new.

So when I write about our clients, the search engines - and more specifically the blog search engines like Technorati and Google Blog Search will bring up results about our clients in my blog.

Case in point:  here's a trackback from a post I did citing a news release for client, Alsbridge.  As you can see, China Law Blog posted an observation about the news release we issued based on my blog post.

In this case, they missed a key point that was in the news release, so I had a chance to extend the conversation by posting a comment on their blog.

I also know that in my other blog, 3Screens, I will, in some case outrank AT&T in their rankings on specific subject matter.

All this to say is that an unexpected benefit of my blogging about our clients helps them more in 'being found."
