Later this evening, Earth Hour takes place at 8 PM.
This is your chance to join millions of people around the world in making a statement about climate
change by turning off your lights for Earth Hour, an event created by the
World Wildlife Fund.
To me, turning off your lights, also means turn off everything in your home that runs on electricity - including, heaven forbid, your TV, your computer and cell phone.
Earth Hour was created by WWF in Sydney, Australia in 2007, and in one year has grown from an event in one city to a global movement. In 2008, millions of people, businesses, governments and civic organizations in nearly 200 cities around the globe will turn out for Earth Hour. More than 100 cities across North America will participate, including the US flagships–Atlanta, Chicago, Phoenix and San Francisco and Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.
Here Are Some Things You Could Do During Earth Hour:
1. Light candles and open a great bottle of wine.
2. Talk to your kids.
3. Talk to your significant other.
4. Do nothing and just chill out.
5. Go for a walk and see who has turned out the lights in your neighborhood.
6. Take a nap.
7. Have friends over and talk about what it's like and what you are experiencing.
8. Make a list (under candlelight) of five new ways your could reduce power consumption at home and at work.
9. Keep talking to those you are with.
10. At 9:01, call someone you love that you can't see because they live afar, and....tell them you love them.
