    No blogging today.

Last night at sundown, began the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur ("Day of Atonement").  It is the tenth day of the month of Tishrei and the holiest day of the Jewish year. On this day, G-d seals our fate for the coming year, therefore, the entire day is spent fasting and praying to G-d for forgiveness and a good year.

    Back from Israel

I just returned from yet another amazing and energy filled trip to Israel.   Mirroring the technology investment climate in the U.S., venture capital is coming back and the companies I spoke with are far more mature and understand the value and importance of messaging and strategic communications.

Dsc_1608 I specifically chose the photo on the left to illustrate what Israel is really like.  The Israel that I see is a wonderful country with an incredible amount of intellectual brainpower, mulitple languages, mulitple cultures, relgious ideologies and wonderful scenery.  Put all this together and you have set the stage for one giant mediafest that often times points an unfair and inaccurate image of what daily life is really like.

    Venture Capital Increasing in Israel

Today I attended the Israel Venture Association annual conference in Tel Aviv.  This year's event had a very good buzz compared to previous years during the downturn.  There were on-going sessions on capital formation, financing and exit strategies, and discussions on various new market opportunities in areas such as medcial devices, fabless semiconductors, enterprise software, and of course, the Internet.

The highlight of the event was a speech given to the group by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. Dsc_1501He spoke about the disengagement plan from Gaza in August, the continued efforts of renewed peace, and political stability in the region.  All of this points to one thing in the context of our group:  if Israel is safe, then venture money can continue to grow again and help the people of this amazing and complex country prosper.
